| After Ferndale, it was time to head back to San Francisco along Highway 101. But 101 went right through Avenue of the Giants again, so we decided to do a quick Loop Trail hike in Rockefeller Forest. I couldn't get enough of the big redwoods. | ||||||

John D. Rockefeller was impressed with the area and what the Save the Redwoods League was doing, and donated millions of dollars to the cause. A lot of money in those days.
